When I say you don’t have to travel far to find some amazing places, I meant it! For example, I was so excited to find Blisswood Bed and Breakfast Ranch as it is a romantic, relaxing, and unique getaway near Houston. It is located a little over an hour west from Houston in Cat Spring, Texas on a 500 acre working ranch, practically in our backyard.
It is a great escape from the city, and as I was driving into the beautiful ranch, there’s a beautiful lake, and animals just roaming freely (horses, cattle, deer, donkeys etc.). I can’t even imagine it in the spring and summer!

For the adventurers: Stay at a Safari Tent
Did you know you don’t have to fly to Africa to stay in a safari tent?
I was actually surprised at how big this tent was. There was a king size bed, a sitting area, a dining table, ac/heat, and most importantly yes there is a bathroom, a shower AND a soaking tub with a view! Yes, please! I will definitely be staying here next time I come.
Outdoors you will find a private fire pit and gas grill, and an outdoor deck. This one is perfect for all your adventurers, spend all your time outdoors, watch the sunset, and the animals nearby.
There is a gated entrance to drive in and park right next to your tent. You will have this whole area all to yourself.
For the romantics: Stay at a Wagon

I mean, who can say they have stayed at a wagon before? This has to be one of the most unique romantic stays in Texas!
Inside you will find a king size bed, ac/heat, bathroom and shower, and a hot plate and electric skillet for cooking. There is no need to leave your wagon for anything!
Outdoors you will find a small lake, a hammock, private firepit, gas grill and a bistro table.
There is also a gated entrance to this area, and you will have it all to yourself, well except for the donkeys and horses nearby.
For a relaxing time: Stay at a Cabin
If you aren’t feeling too adventurous, no worries they have several cabins and guesthouses.
We stayed at their Mystic Woods Cabin (pictured) which had a two person jetted tub inside but also a hot tub and shower outside. This room contained a full kitchen, seating area, and a gas fireplace.
Outdoors you will find a deck with rocking chairs, perfect to enjoy your morning coffee.
In addition, one of their other guesthouses has a pool and several of them contain hot tubs.
Amenities/Activities
- Each cabin has a microwave, refrigerator, toaster, coffee maker, most have stoves and ovens too. Like I said, no need to leave your room!
- Breakfast boxes in cabins (Included in your lodging rate)
- Pet friendly
- No wifi (sit back and relax and enjoy the outdoors)
At an additional fee:
- Picnics, animal safari experience, ranch feeding
- Kayaks, Canoes, paddle boards, fishing gear
- Horseback riding, Archery, Trapshooting, Tomahawk knife throw
In conclusion
In conclusion, what I loved the most was that each cabin was very private and has it’s own entrance and parking. Overall, there really is something for everyone at Blisswood Bed and Breakfast Ranch. Whether you are looking for a romantic, adventurous, or relaxing getaway.
