Instagram- worthy spots in Marfa, Texas
Have you heard of Marfa, Texas? Honestly, I hadn’t heard about it until I discovered all the Instagram-worthy spots in Marfa. I had put off visiting for so long since I considered it far, but honestly the drive was NOT bad at all! When we decided to road trip to Arizona and Utah, I made sure to add a stop in Marfa, as it was on the way!
Marfa is located in West Texas about 9hrs from Houston, 8hrs from Dallas, 7hrs from Austin, and 6hrs from San Antonio. If you are not willing to drive you can fly into El Paso or Midland Airports then drive 3 hours to Marfa.
Marfa is not only known for its arts hub, but also the mystery lights and its food. Do note that most restaurants have limited hours, not sure if this is always the case or just for Covid, so I do suggest visiting Thursday-Sundays as most things are closed during the week.
Also note that your phone signal will be limited. Make sure to save the Instagram-worthy spots you plan on visiting and make your maps available offline, you will thank me later! And if you are looking for more Texas travel click here.

Greetings from Marfa
Location: Frama Coffee
Tips: I love finding the Greetings from Murals everywhere I go. So when I saw this one online I knew I had to stop by.
The mural is located at Frama Coffee, make sure to grab some coffee while you are there! And don’t forget your cowboy hat, we seriously couldn’t stop laughing at Nairobi in her hat! Also 2020 problems, yes that is James mask on the floor. LOL

Marfa Sign
Location: Corner of Lincoln & Highland across Presidio County Courthouse
Tips: I searched so hard for this address online and never found it! Don’t you just hate it when locations aren’t provided? That is one reason why I always provide the addresses in my captions and blog posts! Luckily I was able to run into it as it was right next to the two spots below.
We stopped by around 5pm and the light was so harsh that it was creating a shadow on the letters. Luckily, we stayed nearby and shot a couple more pictures then came back once the sun had gone down. So keep this in mind!

Presidio County Courthouse
Location: 300 Highland
Tips: I always love anything pink! How awesome is their courthouse? It was added to the National Register of Historic Places and designated a recorded Texas Landmark.
We didn’t shoot from the front as there were some trees blocking the view, so we shot from this side angle. Give it a try!

Central Fire Station
Location: 110 E Lincoln
Tips: Another pink place you must stop at! Can you believe this is their fire station? This one is right across from the courthouse above. As you can tell the lighting was harsh around 5pm so be aware of that so you can truly capture the right shade of pink!

El Cosmico
Location: El Cosmico
Tips: The most Instagrammable hotel in Marfa and one of my favorite Instagram-worthy spots in Marfa! FYI, if you are wanting to stay at El Cosmico, book ahead of time! We learned this the hard way and they were sold out that weekend. They have trailers, yurts, teepees, safari tents or you are able to pitch your own tent.
Even though we didn’t get to stay at El Cosmico they do allow you to take pictures in the public areas. Just please be respectful of the guests!

Outside of Marfa

Giant Marfa
Location: Giant Marfa
Tips: This is a tribute to the 1956 Movie with James Dean/Liz Taylor “Giant” and is located about 30 minutes outside of Marfa. The movie “Giant” was actually filmed here and it has drawn a lot of visitors to Marfa. Fun fact, there is country music playing in the background when you visit and it is powered by solar panels. Cool right?

Prada Marfa
Location: Prada Marfa
Tips: Prada Marfa is a permanent sculptural art installation with actual Prada products inside the store but these are actually not for sale!
Prada Marfa is located in the middle of nowhere. We stopped on our way to New Mexico as it is 30 minutes away from Marfa in Valentine, Texas. We pulled over on the side of the road, and walked across for some pictures. Depending on the time of day you may not be the only ones there. Be prepared to wait in line!

Tiny Target
Location: Tiny Target
Tips: Tiny Target is located about 20 minutes before getting to Marfa in the middle of nowhere in Alpine, Texas! There is only a small area to pull over at but luckily we were the only ones there.
Beware, there are bees inside the Tiny Target and look out for rattlesnakes. We stopped in late September in the middle of the day and it was so hot, we rushed to take pictures and left.
It is unknown who decided to create this Tiny Target but it has become a popular roadside attraction. I also can’t believe the trouble someone went through to get this Target cart here but it sure makes for some fun pictures!
