🛤️Step aboard a vintage 1920’s railcar & take a 4-hour round-trip train ride through the Piney Woods. There is a 1 hour and 20-minute layover at Rusk Rail depot to have lunch and explore the grounds. This has been on my bucket list since I saw that they do The Polar Express Train Ride during Christmas time!
💺Choose to seat in presidential cars, open-air, dome, first class, and more. Most cars are temperature-controlled, have restrooms, and a concession car stocked with a variety of snacks, candy, ice cream, and both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages for purchase. Fun fact: Yellowstone filmed an episode here!

I've always wanted to use my platform for good so I have partnered with @BeTheMatch to remind you that if you’re already registered as a bone marrow donor, when they find a match, please remember to say YES.
Over 70% of patients who need a transplant do not have a fully matched donor in their family, they depend on Be The Match. Because of the makeup of the registry, 53% of Asian patients, 71% of African American patients, 52% of Hispanic patients, and 40% of Native American patients won't find a match. Glamping at Under Canvas Grand Canyon

Glamping at Under Canvas Grand Canyon

One thing I wanted to do on our road trip through Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and Utah was go glamping. But since we booked everything last minute, availability was an issue. We found these amazing tents for glamping at Under Canvas Grand Canyon available and booked them immediately. Bonus, they were pet friendly!! Note, they do charge an extra $25 pet fee per pet, per night. It’s always a struggle to find great pet friendly hotels and I have to say this was one of them.

I’ve never actually been camping, only glamping so I was excited that we had a bathroom in our room but not excited about the 30 degree temperatures that night. We visited early October and the temperatures were in the 80s during the day and 30s at night.

Keep reading for our review and general information for Under Canvas Grand Canyon.

If you want to see video footage as well click here for our Instagram Reel and here for our TikTok.

Our Room

We stayed at the deluxe with kids tent which came with this additional tent with two twin beds. Again, since there was limited availability this was all they had left. We actually ended up using it as storage for our luggage so we could take pictures at our main tent. It sure came in handy!

Our room came with it’s own bathroom and shower which to me was a necessity. Not all rooms do, but there is a communal bathroom nearby. Even though the shower was a pull shower (you pull a handle to release the water) the water was warm. Although, ladies don’t plan on washing your hair because you will be extremely cold, and there is nowhere to plug in your hair dyer, curling iron, flat iron etc. You have to make some sacrifices right? Towels, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash are provided. USB charge packs are provided so you can charge your phones.

With the temperatures getting down to 30 degrees that night, the woodfire was a necessity. I was also surprised at how warm their blanket kept me and not to mention how comfortable the bed was. I slept like a baby! There are also USB fans and misting systems to cool off the tent during the day, as it does get hot.

Amenities

The tents are naturally spread apart, so it was easy to social distance. The camp has outdoor tables also spread apart where we could have our meals. Everyone wore masks indoors, so we felt very safe in general.

We had breakfast, lunch and dinner at their cafe. I will say all the meals were good and better than expected. We had dinner outdoors with space heaters available. There was a communal firepit and they provided free smores for you to make. There was also live music which was nice to experience while having dinner.

In Conclusion

If you want to go glamping near National Parks then definitely look up glamping at Under Canvas. To be honest, Under Canvas Grand Canyon did not have the best views and I don’t think I would stay at this location again for that reason. I suggest one of the other locations such as Zion National Park as the views are incredible!

Also note, check in is at 3pm and I suggest arriving exactly at this time to be able to fully enjoy your first day as it does get dark early. Since check out is pretty early at 10am, I suggest staying two nights. I feel like our day went by so fast especially since we went to Grand Canyon for sunset our first night.
